(QNO) - During the 1950s, Hoi An offered a quiet and idyllic daily life. Besides traditional jobs such as wood carving and making pottery, local residents were involved in growing rice and corn, fishing in the rivers for their families’ life. Being in the lower part of the Thu Bon River, Hoi An regularly suffers from flooding in the rainy season. Memories of past historic floods, especially those in 1950 and 1964, remain deep in the minds of the residents.
